Twin births are on the rise with the ever-increasing number of technologically-assisted pregnancies. Multiples carry increased risks for a variety of physical and emotional difficulties. Mothers of multiples have a higher incidence of depression than parents of single born children.

This course presents information on the nature of twin relationships, particularly struggles with individuation and enmeshment not only in the family but also with the twin. It also describes the unique challenges for twins across their development and addresses adult twins who come for therapy. Therapists will learn how to treat issues regarding identity, assertiveness, social skills, and communication patterns that are often intertwined with their twin relationship. This course also presents information for parents of twins to help manage their own strain as well as any siblings of the twins.
