Do you find more of your clients are reporting struggles with food since the on-set of the Pandemic. Times of stress and easy kitchen access may be exacerbating overeating behaviors in your clients. Individuals engaging in compulsive overeating are eating more than their bodies need, eating when they are not hungry, eating larger portions than their bodies need, and often eating to soothe their emotions. While these clients are not doing any of the unhealthy compensatory behaviors of an anorexic or bulimic they can still be harming their physical and/or mental health. This class is designed to review the symptoms of compulsive overeating and to increase your knowledge regarding clinical treatment strategies to address factors in compulsive overeating from a Cognitive-Behavioral perspective.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the symptoms of Compulsive Overeating and how it is diagnosed in DSM-V.
  2. Explore the dynamics behind compulsive overeating and binge eating behaviors, similarities and differences.
  3. Review biological, environmental and psychological factors contributing to compulsive overeating.
  4. Explore Cognitive-Behavioral treatment strategies to help Compulsive Overeating.
