Clinical Supervision: Avoid Pitfalls and Maintain Legal, Ethical Supervision
This course will provide an overview of the basic regulations and procedures surrounding supervision as well as the more subtle challenges a supervisor faces that sometimes cause trouble in the complex supervisor, supervisee, and patient relationship.

The topics covered will include:
• An up-to-date review of the laws and regulations pertaining to supervisors.
• An explanation of the new 2006 BBS Experience Verification Form.
• Techniques to foster growth in interns/trainees/associates.
• Ways to adequately assess what is occurring in an intern’s sessions.
• Strategies to assess for an intern’s “blindspots” and protect your license.
• Recordkeeping: how it protects you and how it impacts supervision.
• How to hire quality trainees/interns/associates.
• Common dilemmas & strategies for difficult situations in supervision.

This course provides 6 hours of credit and satisfies the requirements for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences mandatory Continuing Education course in Supervision Training for individuals supervising MFT Interns. This course also fulfills 6 of the 15 CE hours required for clinical supervision of ASWs.

 

Presented by Samantha Deming, MA, MFT

Samantha has been part of the Gerry Grossman instructional staff since January 2000. Samantha is an asset to the seminar because she has had many years of teaching experience prior to her teaching for the seminar. Students find her easy to follow because she very organized in her presentation. She is also very animated and brings a lot of her natural humor into the classroom.

In addition to teaching for Gerry Grossman Seminars, Samantha maintains a full-time private practice split between Santa Clarita and Encino. Her specialities include couples, anxiety, depression, trauma, E.M.D.R., grief, survivors after suicide, and the treatment of twins.
